Hi, I’m Emily👋

I turn complex healthcare problems into simple, human solutions.

I’m a Product Designer in Denver, designing for the people who can’t afford for software to be confusing: clinicians between patients, billing teams chasing claims, and patients who just want to log in.

NOW

At RXNT, a healthcare SaaS platform serving medical practices across the country, I’m one of two designers, so a lot of the design practice exists because I built it. I lead design across practice management (billing and scheduling), patient experience, mobile and AI, from 0→1 products to redesigns of tools people use every day.

HOW I WORK

Start with the constraint. Regulations, compliance requirements, tight dev timelines. In healthcare, the constraint is usually the brief, so I put it first instead of designing around it later.

Design the workflow, not the screen. Where a step lands in someone’s day matters more than how polished the screen looks.

Trust is a feature. Whether it’s an AI note, a login or a billing claim, people need to see what the system is doing and what happens next.

Leave the system better. Every project should make the next one easier: patterns, documentation, fewer one-offs.

HOW I GOT HERE

I studied why systems fail people. Now I design ones that don’t. I studied sociology, worked in HR and education, then found UX, and it clicked immediately. It turns out I’d been doing user research the whole time. I just didn’t have the title.

OFF THE CLOCK

I make surreal digital art in Photoshop, hike Colorado trails with my dog, and listen to an unreasonable amount of true crime, which is kind of just user research for a different kind of problem.
